Sherbond successfully evicts the Mayfair squatters

Sherbond – the UK’s leading team of high court enforcement officers – has successfully evicted squatters living in two multi-million pound mansions in central London.

The “Mayfair Squatters” were effectively removed from properties based in Clarges Mews and Park Lane by two of Sherbond’s High Court Enforcement Officers on Wednesday 28th January.

The first eviction at two back-to-back homes in Clarges Mews took less than 30 minutes to complete, as both evictees were ready and waiting with their belongings with the remaining dozen or so squatters having left a short while before the Sherbond High Court Officers attended.

However with over 50 unlawful residents and six dogs, the second eviction at Park Lane took nearly five hours.

Geoff Richardson, Client Relationship Manager for Sherbond said: “We are really pleased with the way our officers handled the situation. With dozens of squatters to evict, there could have been some major conflict. However because of our careful planning and the training provided at Sherbond, we ensured our officers dealt with difficult circumstances calmly and effectively.”

To make sure they didn’t leave anything behind, officers observed the unlawful tenants whilst they packed up their possessions, including a range of art work.

Working closely with local authorities, landowners and the police, Sherbond always ensures that the sites are returned to their rightful owners, using legal powers granted by the High Court.

Sherbond’s Chief Executive Claire Sandbrook said: “These were both very successful operations resulting in all the evictees being escorted off the premises in a safe and orderly fashion subject to the High Court Writ of Possession. The owner is really pleased with the way we handled the eviction.”

Both the mansions are now back in their owners’ possession.
